Review : Wet n Wild Lipstick in 903C Just Peachy

Being silly, as usual. I really don't know how to pose for the camera. #fact

I have always wondered how I would look like with this particular Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick. Thanks to +Joanne Ch'ng from Colours Cosmetics Malaysia (also known as CCM), I don't have to wonder no more. I was provided with the opportunity to review the well-known, extremely affordable 'Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Just Peachy'. According to some reviews I've come across online, quite a handful mentioned that this shade made them look washed out. A big capital, N-O for me. When I first tested it out (without any makeup on), it doesn't look flattering at all. Allow me to bring you on a detailed journey of this peachy darling -

Review

First off, let's talk about their packaging. From afar, it does look somewhat appealing on the outside. The breakdown - black acrylic body, transparent acrylic cover with a silver-printed brand on the cover. I love the fact that it has a transparent cover that allows me to find the shade I want to use a whole lot quicker. As for the silver-printed brand on the cover, the ones I initially have started to wear off because of being in my makeup bag or moved around quite often.

It feels quite sturdy as a whole especially when you hold it. But when it comes to the mechanics of opening and twisting the product up, that's where the packaging flaw starts to reveal itself. I appreciate the fact that Wet n Wild designed the cover to ensure it doesn't come loose on it's own and not make a mess inside of any makeup pouch. A plus point! But, that good thing somewhat backfires as I find it a little difficult to pull open the cover. When it comes to twisting the lipstick up, it feels as if the lipstick would pop right out of the tube. Hence, you have to be very gentle and careful when playing with it. Not a big turnoff but I make sure that I'd open it carefully, trying not to damage the lipstick.

As for the pricing, I would say it is really bank-account friendly. Priced at RM16 at Colours Cosmetics Malaysia it makes me wanna buy more colours! It is great especially when it comes to unique colours in order to test the colour-wheel waters before splurging on expensive ones like Nars, MAC, Guerlian, Tom Ford, or Chanel to name a few. The price is great for girls who hardly wears makeup, makeup junkies, or girls who are looking for pigmented, quality lipsticks without breaking the bank. Yes STUDENTS, CCM hears ya!

I'm happy to report that there is no weird-scent or weird-taste. Weird is defined as chemically/herbally/florally/powdery or any strong smell or taste.Texture-wise, for Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Just Peachy, it is slightly on the dry side because of its matte finish. So, you would need to exfoliate and moisturize your lips well before applying this peachy darling. You can exfoliate every morning when brushing your teeth, gently using the toothbrush to help remove dead skin cells. As you can see in the pictures above, Just Peachy is pigmented and applied evenly without looking patchy. Its cream-ish matte texture gives full-coverage to any pigmented lips

As for the shade, it is a milky peachy pink colour with neutral undertones. This shade works well with fair-skinned girls but I'm guessing this shade might make dark-skinned beauties look a little washed out. The wear-time for this lipstick is around 3-4 hours without drinking or eating, requiring to touch up or reapply after that period of time varying from individuals. I don't expect nude-coloured lipsticks, may it be pink or beige based to have a long-lasting effect because it has less colour pigment unlike its bright counterpart - the reds, pinks, oranges, or purples.

DID YOU KNOW?
Do you have a bright coloured lipstick which is neglected because you are not used to bold statement lips? Don't throw or give it away just yet. This shade can be used to tone down any bright lipsticks you have.

TRY IT!
Use nude/milky coloured lipsticks as a base, and apply the bright lipstick on top of it. The other way around works as well. Blend using your ring finger or purse your lips together to blend. Play or experiment with the two shades to find your comfort zone. You will love the end result.
